BUFFALO, NY-- Wednesday was Social Media Day around the world. To mark the occasion here in Buffalo, a first annual get-together was organized, called Buffalo Meet-up.
The event was publicized through sites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace, and was open to anyone who uses social media. This face-to-face event is the latest in the evolution of communication happening on-line.
"I just think this really speaks to how we get our information these days, said Katie Krawczyk, one of the event organizers. "This is all really a groundswell on Facebook and Twitter and word of mouth."

"I'm like the old guy here," said Alan. "I've been blogging since 2003 and it'll be seven years this year. And you know, the entire medium on-line, whether its blogging or Twitter or Facebook, it's completely morphed into something completely different."
The Buffalo Meet-up was well attended. Over 140 people had RSVP's for the event. It is one of more than 500 being held around the globe Wednesday night.
