BUFFALO, NY-The City of Buffalo has adopted a new smoking disclosure law for landlords.

Here's what it calls for: landlords must clearly state in their rental lease agreements if smoking is banned or allowed within rental units and common areas.

The legislation is the first of its kind in New York State and is now a requirement of the landlord registry within the city charter.

The Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition has resources available, including sample lease agreements and a listing of smoke-free apartments at www.smokefreehome.org. For more information, you can call 845-1615.
