ORCHARD PARK (wgrz.com) - MIAMI DOLPHINS VS. BUFFALO BILLS
1PM KICKOFF - RALPH WILSON STADIUM
FIRST QUARTER
1:04 - Bills go three and out to start the game. Fitzpatrick pressured on first down, jackson stopped on second, and then on third and seven Fitzpatrick throws incomplete to Reed.
1:11 - Dolphins turn the football over in a situation that's a clear example of being too smart for your own good. The Phins drive and are having success in the wildcat... they had the ball first and goal at the Buffalo three yard line. Ricky Williams takes the snap and instead of running... attempts to throw for the end zone and is picked off by Bills linebacker Chris Draft. Absolutely no reason to throw the football on first down to begin with...add to the fact he probably could have run it in on the play. Bills start at their 20-yard line we ith the game scoreless.
1:25 - Rian Lindell misses a 44-yard field goal wide right for Buffalo. The Bills had driven from their 20-yard line.... not pretty but overall effective on offense. Ryan Fitzpatrick had been sacked for a loss of 12, but on second and 22... connected with Lee Evans down the right sideline for a gain of 32. The next play was a reverse to TO that was called back for holding. Fitzpatrick connected with Josh Reed for a gain of 10 to set up the missed field goal attempt.
SECOND QUARTER
1:37 - SCORING UPDATE - DOLPHINS TOUCHDOWN - 7-0 MIAMI. Chad Henne with 4-yard touchdown pass to Brian Hartline. Miami gets itself into another short yardage situation and cashes in this time. Henne connects with Hartline in the back right corner of the end zone on third and goal at the four yard line. Miami drives 66-yards in nine plays. The Bills are simply overmatched physcially so far in this game. Miami figured out they should leave the throwing to Henne and the running to Williams as they take a 7-0 lead.
1:45 - Bills go three and out. Guard Kendall Simmons who the Bills signed this week was beaten badly for a sack and loss of nine on second down and the offense simply couldn't recover.
1:51 - The Bills defense forces a Miami punt. One of the key stops on the drive was on a reverse where Miami lost four yards. The only time the Dolphins have really struggled at all today is when they try to get fancy... straight up they're beating the Bills physically.
1:56 - SCORING UPDATE - BILLS TOUCHDOWN - RYAN FITZPATRICK 31-YARD RUN GAME TIED 7-7. The Bills drive 85-yards in five plays... 15 of those yards coming on a roughing the passer call against Jason Taylor. On the touchdown, the Bills faced second and eleven at the Miami 31... Fitzpatrick rolled right under heavy backside pressure from Taylor... he saw open field and an angle and showed good acceleration taking off down the right sideline for the touchdown to tie the game. The 31-yard scoring run is a career high for Fitzpatrick.
2:10 - Bills defense very impressive in forcing a punt. Aaron Schobel with a stop on a swing pass to Polite for a loss of seven yards. Spencer Johnson delivers a sack on 2nd and 17. Bills get ball at the 24 with 1:35 left in the half.
2:18 - Fitzpatrick picked off by Yeremiah Bell on 3rd and 10 at the 38. Miami gets ball at 49 with :38 left in the half.
2:22 - Dolphins called for holding while going for it on 4th and 1. Miami elects to punt and Miami downs it at the four yard line with :05 left in the half.
END OF FIRST HALF: SCORE TIED 7-7
THIRD QUARTER
2:50 - SCORING UPDATE - MIAMI TOUCHDOWN - RICKY WILLIAMS 1-YARD TOUCHDOWN RUN - 14-7 MIAMI. The Dolphins drive 83-yards in 16-plays - 9:07. The Dolphins converted on fourth and one during the drive... and took advantage of a rookie mistake by Jairus Byrd on third and four at the 20. Henne completed to Hartline who rolled and came up off his knees. Byrd touched him but didn't tackle him and since he was on his feet, gained the extra yardage down to the one-yard line.
INTERESTING NOTE: Terrell Owens has just one catch for six yards with 5:52 left in the third quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER
3:06 - SCORING UPDATE - FRED JACKSON 3-YARD TOUCHDOWN RUN - GAME TIED 14-14. Bills respond with an impressive drive that extends from the third into the early portion of the fourth quarter. The Bills drive 13-plays going 75-yards in 7:04. The Bills got Terrell Owens involved on this drive hitting him for gains of 10 and 12-yards. Buffalo converted on 4th and 1 with Fitzpatrick scrambling for a gain of 8. Fred Jackson continues to have a significant impact... made a great catch to set up the first and goal sitaution and then ran it in from three out for the score.
3:11 - INTERESTING STAT NOTE: The Bills media staff just announced that Fitzpatrick's 31-yard run for a touchdown earlier in the game was the longest QB run for a touchdown in franchise history.
3:15 - Bills defense forces a punt. Good pressure from Aaron Schobel on third and six forces a Henne incompletion. Miami punts and Bills will start at their 13-yard line.
3:24 - The Bills are forced to punt after driving impressively. Fitzpatrick is sacked on second and third down and Buffalo taken out of field goal range. Incredible punt by Moorman has Miami starting at its own 2-yard line with 7:02 left in the game.
3:28 - Bills defense forces a three and out. CB Drayton Florence very impressive breaking up a deep ball intended for Ginn Jr. on first down, and almost intercepting an overthrown ball on third down. Miami punts and the Bills have great field position, starting on the Miami 39-yard line with 5:59 left.
3:34 - SCORING UPDATE - BILLS FIELD GOAL - RIAN LINDELL 56-YARD FIELD GOAL TO TAKE 17-14 LEAD. Lindell had missed a 44-yard field goal earlier in the game but connects on a career long 56-yarder. It's the second longest field goal in team history. Steve Christie kicked a 59-yarder against Miami in September of 1993.
3:40 - Bills defense takes the ball away.... Chad Henne throwing on 2nd and 8 and pressured by Chris Kelsay... Drayton Florence intercepts the ball... Bills take over.
3:42 - SCORING UPDATE 24-14 BUFFALO- 51-YARD TOUCHDOWN PASS TO TERRELL OWENS. Outstanding call and an obvious difference with Fewell as head coach. Buffalo goes right to the air after the turnover, letting Terrell Owens extend and beat Vontae Davis down the right sideline. Fitzpatrick led him beautifully for the 51-yard touchdown.
3:50 - Donte Whitner intercepts Chad Henne's pass and returns it to the Miami 26-yard line. Buffalo leading 24-14 with 1:37 left in the game.
