JACKSONVILLE (wgrz.com) - Perry Fewell makes his debut as Bills interim coach as the Bills face the Jaguars. Adam Benigni blogs live from Jacksonville.
FIRST QUARTER
1:05 - Fitzpatrick overthrows receiver on 3rd and 8 and gets picked off. Jags drive start is the Buffalo 28. Fitzpatrick had thrown behind Evans incomplete on first down, and Lynch was stuffed up the middle on second. First series, and zero progress for the Bills offense - not exactly the spark the Bills and Fewell were hoping for.
1:10 - SCORING UPDATE - JAGUARS 3-0 ON 29-YARD FIELD GOAL FROM JOSH SCOBEE. The Bills defense does a good job of holding after the Fitzpatrick interception.
1:25 - The Bills lose OL Seth McKinney to injury. He walked off the field under his own power. The line now looks like this:
LT- Jonathan Scott, LG - Andy Levitre, C - Geoff Hangartner, RG - Eric Wood, RT - Kirk Chambers.
1:27 - SCORING UPDATE - 3-3 - BILLS FIELD GOAL - RIAN LINDELL 26-YARD FIELD GOAL. The Bills drive 72-yards in 11-plays. They were aided by a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty on the Jags, and an impressive Fitzpatrick to Owens 28-yards gain on 3rd and 15 to keep the drive alive. That gave the Bills 1st and 10 at the 15 but they had to settle for a field goal.
1:32 - The Bills defense turns the ball over. Garrard's pass on second down is tipped by Bryan Scott and intercepted by George Wilson. That gives Buffalo 1st and goal at the 9-yard line.
1:34 - Fred Jackson runs in for an apparent TD on first down but Shawn Nelson is flagged for an illegal block below the waist. 15-yard penalty pushes them back to the 24.
1:36 - SCORING UPDATE - BILLS LEAD 6-3 ON 28-YARD FIELD GOAL FROM RIAN LINDELL. The Bills offense once again self destructs in the red zone. The 15-yard penalty on Nelson changed everything and Buffalo couldn't recover, settling for another field goal to take a 6-3 lead on a drive that officially goes into the books as travelling negative one yard.
1:39 - Bills DT Kyle Williams has looked impressive. He was listed as questionable with a sprained knee. Had a big pressure and hit on Garrard the play before he threw the interception that led to the Bills last field goal.
SECOND QUARTER
1:51 - SCORING UPDATE - JAGS LEAD 10-6 ON A 3-YARD TD RUN BY MAURICE JONES-DREW. The Jags drive 78-yards on 13-plays in 7:29. The play came on 2nd and 11 at the Buffalo 29. Garrard hit Mike Sims-Walker on a crossing route for a gain of 28 down to the 1-yard line to set up the touchdown.
2:00 - Bills turn the ball over on a Marshawn Lynch fumble. Buffalo was driving impressively, finally showing some rythym. Fitzpatrick handed the ball to Lynch on 1st and ten at the Jax 33... Lynch ran into the pile and fumbled. Terrence Knighton forced the fumble and Derrick Harvey recovered for the Jags. Lynch was shaken up and helped off the field walking under his own power.
2:10 - Bills defense forces a punt, and then the Buffalo offense goes three and out. Brian Moorman punts and the Jags take over at their own 30 after being flagged for holding.
2:16 - The Bills defense forces another punt, and the Bills take over at their own 20-yard line.
2:17 - INJURY UPDATE - Bills RB Marshawn Lynch suffers shoulder injury. The Bills say they will update his status after the half.
2:35 - SCORING UPDATE - BILLS FG - RIAN LINDELL 22-YARDS - BUFFALO TRAILS 10-9: The Bills drive 76-yards in 9-plays to end the half. The Bills were able to get the field goal unit on the field after calling a timeout with 1-second left in the half. Just prior, was a questionable play call on a run to Fred Jackson instead of taking a shot at the end zone. Just prior that, the Bills called a quick slant to Owens on first and goal at the 12 for a gain of 7. Still, the offense has shown more rythym and moved the ball well in the passing game on that drive. The Bills trail 10-9 at the half.
THIRD QUARTER
2:43 - Bills defense forces punt to start the second half. Key play was Aaron Schobel's sack of Garrard for a loss of seven. Jags punt... Parrish attempts to field it and is tackeld at the Buffalo 2-yard line.
2:47 - SCORING UPDATE - BILLS TOUCHDOWN - 98-YARDS - FITZPATRICK PASS TO TERRELL OWENS-BILLS LEAD 15-10 - It's a one play drive with the Bills backed up to their two-yard line after the Jaksonville punt. PAT fails - couldn't initially tell if snap was high or it was designed fake - Moorman throws incomplete.
2:58 - Bills defense forces another punt. Good pressure by Aaron Schobel up the middle on 3rd and 12 forces Garrard to throw incomplete. Bills will take over at their own 20.
2:59 - INTERESTING STAT NOTE: The 98-yard touchdown completion to Terrell Owens was the longest completion in Bills history. It topped the 95-yard completion from Todd Collins to Quinn Early back on December 1, 1996.
3:06 - The Bills are forced to punt. They go three and out after a false start penalty on first down. Jags take over at their own 37-yard line. To this point in the game, the Bills have outgained the Jags 288-165. They've held the Jags to 77-yards rushing with 3:15 left in the third quarter.
3:10 - Credit the banged up Bills defense. They get the job done again forcing a three and out. Strong against the run on second down and good pressure on Garrard on third down forcing him to throw short.
FOURTH QUARTER
3:19 - Bills rookie Guard Eric Wood is injured on a third down play suffering an apparent leg injury. He's carted off the field. Fitzpatrick completed a shovel pass to Josh Reed for gain of 22 to pick up first down.
3:21 - Fitzpatrick completes 53-yard TD pass to Lee Evans that is negated by an illegal hands to the face penalty on OL Jonathan Scott. Bills forced to punt three plays later. Fitzpatrick nearly picked off on second down pass intended for Owens.
3:32 - Bills force a fumble. Jax driving on 2nd and 12 at the Buffalo 21. David Garrard scrambles. Posluszny forces fumble and Spencer Johnson recovers for the Bills with just over 8:00 left in the game.
3:36 = Bills offense goes three and out. Fitzpatrick is sacked by John Henderson on third down. Moorman punt is fumbled by Jags... they recover and return to their own 32 with 6:12 left in the game.
