BUFFALO, NY-- A reality television show is scheduled to shoot a two hour special in Western New York next month.

Producers for the Home and Garden Television Network need young families, who like to decorate for the holidays, to sign up.

HGTV wants six local families to face off in a holiday decorating competition called, "Holiday Battle on the Block." Once the network picks the families, each home will be given a healthy budget to design, shop and build something in 48 hours.

Producers plan to shoot two different shows, each an hour long. The Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation says it's great opportunity to put Western New York in a positive spotlight.

"So, we may feasibly get an hour show say in Lewiston and another hour in Lockport or North Tonawanda. So, it's a great opportunity I think for us. Now we need to find the people," said Kate Scaglione, director of marketing and communications for Niagara USA.

To qualify for the show you must live in one of these communities:

Lewiston,
Youngstown,
North Tonawanda,
Newfane,
Olcott,
Wilson,
The Deveaux neighborhood in Niagara Falls.

Producers also want young families with children or teens who live in heritage-style homes. Families must be available December 10th to the 13th or December 15th to the 18th.

To apply, you must email a family photo and a picture of the outside of your home to Sue Skinner of SMS Concepts Casting at smsconcepts@rogers.com
