The Humane Society of the United States is offering up to $2,500 for information leading to the person responsible for abandoning more than 30 young dogs and puppies earlier this month.
The 31 terriers, including one dead dog, were found by the Concord Animal Control Officer along a dead end road that runs off Route 219 in the town.
The dogs ranged in age between 3 months and two years, and several of them were pregnant, leading authorities suspect they may have come from a puppy mill.
The animals all received emergency vet care at the SPCA in Tonawanda and most are now in foster homes and could eventually be available for adoption.
"This community has come together in the past when similar cases have occurred, and we're again turning to community members for help in solving this case. Anyone who knows anything about the former guardian of these dogs-the person who may have been responsible for this monstrous act-or who saw unusual behavior along southtown roads and highways Sunday, November 8th, is encouraged to contact us," said Barbara Carr, SPCA Executive Director.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 629-3537 or log onto YourSPCA.org.
