Change is bound to occur when a football team struggles the way the Bills have this season. With the team at 3 & 6 through 9 games, the first change is the dismissal of head coach Dick Jauron. While fans have been clamoring for that for awhile now when a coaching change happens it sends shock waves through the organization.
Players contacted by WGRZ-TV and wgrz.com were shocked by the firing but at the same time said with the team struggling that something was bound to happen.
Wide receiver Lee Evans spoke with Sports Director Ed Kilgore and defensive end Chris Kelsay spoke with Stu Boyar.
2 On Your Side's Josh Boose spoke with former Buffalo Bill and NFL Hall of Famer Joseph DeLamielleure. "Joe D" said he is friends with Jauron but feels the Bills had to do this because Jauron wasn't performing and getting the results they needed. DeLamielleure said fans should not be too excited because there is a lot more work that needs to be done, not all the problems the Bills have, he said, sit with the head coach.
Boose also spoke with former Buffalo Bill Steve Tasker.
"When a head coach is replaced there are a lot of changes," said Tasker. "And there are probably a lot of changes coming. What will happen in this case remains to be seen."
As for the future of the Bills, Tasker said, "Yes, the outlook will change. And the outlook will get clearer and clearer as they get closer to picking a permanent replacement."
