Deaglan is a vivacious four-year-old with a big imagination and a personality to match.
When you see him play with his younger brother, you'd never know the pain he and his family have endured over the past seven months.
What you can see is the strength and appreciation they've gained from one of life's toughest lessons.
"You appreciate everything. You appreciate your job, the people you work with, the smell of the air. It's a new found respect for everything," said Deaglan's dad, Ed Carney.
In April, doctors discovered Deaglan had a brain tumor. After several surgeries and hospital stays, he's back at home and doing well.
"Your whole life changes in a heartbeat, and you don't realize just how truly fortunate you are. Today we can say he's healthy and on his way to recovery," said Audra, Deaglan's mom.
Deaglan's parents say it's more than medicine that's helped them and their little boy get through the darkest of days.
"The amount of assistance we've gotten from everybody has just been overwhelming and breathtaking, a true blessing for us to have, so many good people in our life that we've come into contact with. I can't thank everybody enough," said Audra.
Deaglan's received thousands of cards and letters from people all across the country. Click here to send an email that will be passed along to him.
A benefit will be held Sunday November 8th from 2pm to 7pm at the Iron Workers Hall, 196 Orchard Park Road in West Seneca. Tickets are $20.00 each.
A special drawing of Deaglan, his little brother, and their favorite hockey player, former Boston Bruin, Bobby Orr, will be for sale. The drawing was completed by Robin Clark, of East Otto, who does work for Jay Leno and the Tonight Show.
