Nearly two months after getting hit by a car and losing a leg, an East Amherst mom was released from the hospital and was able to reunite with her infant daughter.
Ever since that horrible day back in September, Sarah Gregory has struggled while at ECMC, learning how to live without her left leg and living without her baby Analiese.
"Fifty one days I've been waiting, this is my birthday and this is the best gift I could ever have, to go home and see my little girl," said Sarah.
During her time at ECMC, Sarah only got to see Annaliese once a week on Sundays because she and her husband Brian didn't want to jeopardize the baby's health.
Scott Brown: "How difficult was it after those Sunday visits when the baby had to leave?"
Sarah Gregory: "Oh, that killed me, that killed me to watch them walk out the door and not go home with them. That was hard, that was really hard."
Despite all of her struggles, Sarah says she has much to be thankful for, including Edgar King and the two other men who helped stop her bleeding immediately after the accident.
Scott Brown: "Do you feel that they saved your life?"
Sarah Gregory: "I know that they saved my life, they absolutely did. Without them I wouldn't be here, and my daughter wouldn't have her mom."
Brian Gregory: "I can't say how appreciative I am of what they did for Sarah, there's no way I'll be I will ever be able to repay them."
Friday afternoon, Sarah was finally on her way home, ready to face both the challenges, and the joys, that await her.
"I just thought there's no way I could leave this earth. I have this gorgeous baby and wonderful husband and family, so how could I possibly leave?" she said.
