The woman who hit two Buffalo college students with her S.U.V. and then drove off, will spend at least one year in prison.

Andrea Glinski was sentenced on Friday morning in Erie County Court. Glinski could spend as long as three years in prison.

Police say Glinski hit Amy Stewart and Rachel Baird back in March. The two students were walking down Main Street  near Campus Drive in Amherst.

Stewart was seriously hurt as a result of the crash. She was not released from the hospital until May.

Both asked the judge to impose the maximum prison sentence for the harm Glinski caused.

"A good person would not do the things she did. A good person would help a mangled person in the street, not to mention hitting two people and leaving them," said Stewart's brother who read a letter for his sister. The crash left Stewart in a coma for days after the crash. She now suffers traumatic brain injury and has a difficult time walking and talking.

"The bottom line is clear. She left two people she hit with a car in the middle of the street for no regard for either ones survivals," said Baird.

Glinski apologized in court to both women, "I can't defend my actions and I'm ashamed of the choices I've made, not because I'm here today in court, but knowing that I will live with the shame and regret of what happened to lives of Amy and Rachel.

The judge described Glinski's actions has cowardly. She will appear before a corrections board once a year and could spend a total of three years in prison.
