A spokesperson for Chelsea Oliver's family says the 15-year-old Amherst High School student died after complications from the flu a week and a half ago.

Oliver was diagnosed with the flu, although it was unclear whether it was the H1N1 influenza or the regular flu. However, health experts have said the vast majority of flu cases right now are H1N1.

Chelsea was sent home from the hospital, and a few days later, she developed pneumonia and eventually MRSA.

The family spokesperson, Phyllis Hojnowski, also says before the flu, Oliver had no underlying health conditions like asthma. "She was a healthy 15 year old," Hojnowski said.

2 On Your Side also spoke with one of Chelsea's best friends. You can watch Michael Wooten's report in the video player.
