Nancy James has six grandchildren, all under age 7. She's concerned because her grandchildren's pediatrician ran out of seasonal flu vaccine. "They have no more flu vaccine at this time they hope to receive more by November, but if you want to try to get it somewhere else before then you could try," James said. She figured she's just take them to the store or clinic at a pharmacy. "I called Walmart and Target and CVS and Rite Aid," she told us, "Each one of them said we do not give seasonal vaccinations to children under nine." Nancy James could not find a single place giving shots to young children and she's worried more vaccine won't come into her doctor's office for the kids or it will come too late. "I'm sure we're not the only grandparents or parents that are waiting," James said. A Health Department spokesman acknowledges it's a difficult situation and recommended people in this case shop around for the seasonal flu vaccine, to other pediatricians. He also told us the health department does not keep track of which doctors have regular flu vaccine or which ones have run out. There is no vaccine shortage and so doctors are able to order more. So, these grandparents say they will keep their fingers crossed their pediatrician get more vaccine in soon because they just want to protect what's most precious to them, their grandchildren.
