New York State Governor David Paterson (D) appeared on NBC's Meet the Press this morning, announcing that he still plans to run for governor in 2010.
"The people of the State of New York are the ones that should choose the governor," Paterson said when asked about the Obama Administration's message urging him not to run for re-election.
Paterson said that the president himself never asked him specifically not to run.
Paterson wants to make his own case for governor, hoping that how he's fought for the state, to do things like close the deficit, will speak for itself.
While 80% have disapproved of Paterson's actions during his time in office, 62% of people believe the Obama Administration had to right to step on on NYS affairs.
When Moderator David Gregory asked if he was having a difficult week, Paterson responded that his week hasn't been harder than anyone else's. He said he's been making tough decisions on behalf of the state, and he hopes that he can keep fighting through 2010.
