Arrests Made in Chautauqua County Break-Ins

An investigation into a burglary in the Chautauqua County community of Clymer has led to the arrest of three people the sheriff's department says may have been responsible for many more.

The proble into the Clymer case led authorities to a trailer in Wattsburg, Pennsylvania. With the help of the state police there, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's department recovered several items from that crime, as well as hundreds of other items from other burglaries throughout the county.

Those break-ins took place between May and July of 2008 in the towns of Ripley, Portland, and Westfield as well as the village of Westfield.

Mark Bowman, 23, of Ripley, and Dorothy Matteson, 36, of Wattsburg, PA are charged with burglary and grand larceny. Lance Clark, 24, or Dunkirk is charged with two burglary.

With these arrests, the department believes they've solved six separate burglaries and recovered several thousand dollars of stolen items.

Other arrests are expected.
