Lilly Ellis isn't a professional golfer, but a recent swing by the 14-year-old has local golfers talking about her at Moon
Brook Country Club in Jamestown.

"I thought I'd give up golf," said one veteran golfer after he heard what she did.

Two weeks ago, with her mom and three friends watching, Lilly hit a hole-in-one at a 115-yard par-three hole.

"I don't even think I took a practice swing. I just swung," Lilly said. Her mom, Sophie, didn't believe it when they saw it. "No, it didn't disappear in thin air...it's in the hole."

But, that's just part of the story. Lilly did it with just one arm. She was born that way, and it doesn't stop her from playing.

"It's been very difficult trying to get a good technique down. It's not easy trying to control one arm," Lily said.

Her attitude has impressed local golfers, "Well, I mean she's got accurate control over the one [arm] she's got, and I don't for the two," said veteran golfer Todd Patric.

The local newspaper put her hole-in-one story on the front page, and Sports Illustrated plans to feature her in its next issue.

"I was shocked. I mean, who wouldn't be. I didn't think it would be such a big deal," Lilly said.
