A five-month-old puppy is now in the care of the Erie County SPCA after a traumatizing and truly troubling experience.
A good samaritan found the puppy in a convenience store parking lot in Lockport after the cocker spaniel had been dragged behind a car attached to the bumper by its leash.
The puppy was rushed to an emergency clinic for severe injuries. Currently, the dog has bones protruding and parts of skin burned off. His feet and legs are severely injured and he is covered with staples and stitches. It's amazing the little guy survived.
"The exposure is right down to the bone in three of his areas between his feet, his legs, and that's all going to have to granulate in. He seems to have all his muscle, he seems to be able to walk right, so we're not losing any sort of movement but all that has to grow back in," said Barbara Carr, Executive Director of the SPCA.
The puppy is now heavily drugged to numb all the pain.
So far, $3,200 has been raised to help pay for his care and treatment.
