After reviewing damage patterns in Allegany County, National Weather Service Meteorologists have confirmed the likelihood that an EF1 Tornado touched down in the town of Cuba, which is between Rushford and Black Creek.

While there was widespread damage from strong gusty winds over several miles, a narrow strip of intense destruction was likely caused by a funnel cloud with winds ranging from 86 - 110mph.

Doppler radar initially indicated a rotation within the strong thunderstorm over the Allegany County on Sunday afternoon and the damage survey confirms the heaviest damage was in the area of the vortex.

The debris field from the tornado covers an area about as large as a football field with large timbers toppled and tossed several hundred feet.

While there have not been any images of a tornado, a few residents report seeing a funnel cloud near the area of intense damage.
