His name is Dexter Harris and he's worked for the past 8 years as a greeter and elevator operator at the Maid of the Mist in Niagara Falls.

He loves the job and exudes passion for his profession to visitors from around the world. He also manages to put a smile on everyone's face through familiarity.

He never went to college, but in the course of his work experiences, Dexter has managed to pick up at least a few phrases and greetings in about 20 different languages.

He first noticed an 8 year old boy ask a Chinese visitor how to say hello in Chinese. Dexter decided to ask as well. He started greeting Chinese visitors in their native tongue and quickly found that people from other countries were expecting the same courtesy. So he took it upon himself to ask and study up, and now can converse with just about everyone who rides his elevator.

Dexter loves his job, and as a side benefit for all of us, makes a fantastic first impression for Western New York.

Oh and by the way, Dexter is the uncle of former Niagara Falls High School and Syracuse University basketball star Paul Harris.
