When Ann Solerno-Kobel was told that her dog had lymphoma, it set her off on a path of discovery.

Ann wanted to find out everything she could about the disease as well as whatever she could do to help her best friend, Guuseppe. In her research she found that many commercial dog foods are seriously lacking in what she thinks is proper nutrition. "I found that we are starving our dogs" she said.

Then her idea came together as she and Giuseppe were on a walk. Ann realized there really aren't any places where you can stop, grab a cup of coffee and sit down with your dog. With that revelation, The Organic Dog Market and Coffee-Tea House was born.

Her shop, which is half organic dog food and supply shop and half coffee and tea house, has been open on Delaware Avenue in Kenmore for almost a month now. Ann says she's already had great response. The idea is wholesome, healthy product for customers on two or four legs. The coffee beans are shipped in from a former banana plantation, where they are slow-grown organically in the shade of banana trees. The packaging is made from organic or recycled materials. They roast and grind their own beans. Their blended coffee and tea drinks are all fruit and fresh products.

Ann wanted to create a shop where she would shop. Now she hopes that others feel the same way as she does.
