Buffalo residents will now be able to view crime stats from their neighborhoods.
The city now has its crime reports online.

It will detail homicides, rapes, assaults, burglaries, robberies and vehicle thefts. Names and specific addresses won't be posted. The city hopes to add other categories in the future including drug arrests.
Mayor Byron Brown (D-Buffalo) says the information isn't meant to make anyone fearful or paranoid; it's just a tool to make residents more aware and make criminals feel more pressure.
"We want them to know that not only is the police department watching them but that citizens are watching them," said Brown. "And that citizens are paying attention and looking out for them."
The site is run by CRIMEREPORTS.com and will be updated every night at midnight so the latest crime information can be seen. It costs $200 per month for a company to host the materials. It's being paid for by a grant through New York State Operation Impact.
