Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Laurent Rivard scored 19 points to lead the
Harvard Crimson to a 67-62 victory over the California Golden Bears in a non-
conference battle at Haas Pavilion.
Wesley Saunders added 18 points and Siyani Chambers handed out nine assists
for Harvard (7-4) which has won five of its last six.
Allen Crabbe scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds for
California (8-4). Justin Cobbs added 15 points and David Kravish tacked on 12
points. Richard Solomon blocked a career-high four shots as California tied a
school record with 11 blocks in the contest. The Golden Bears had won back-to-
back games before this game.
Harvard led 33-26 at the end of the first half despite shooting just 37.5
percent from the field by outscoring California 18-0 from beyond the arc.
California shot at a 44.4 percent clip in the first 20 minutes.
California heated up to 50.0 percent shooting in the second half but still
couldn't knock down a shot from 3-point range (0-of-4). The Crimson shot just
35.7 percent from the field but nailed 4-of-10 shots from distance.
After Kravish made a layup with 1:50 remaining, California took a 62-61 lead.
The Crimson then ended the game on a 6-0 spurt by hitting on all six of its
free throw attempts in the final minutes.
California lost despite outscoring Harvard 30-20 on points in the paint.
Harvard had a massive 30-0 advantage on points from beyond the arc.
