Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz is commenting on the legislature's decision to vote against his proposed 3.4% property tax increase.
Five Republicans and one Democrat, Tom Loughran from Amherst, voted for cuts over the increase.
The legislature approved a plan that features $8.5 million in cuts.
Poloncarz said he's "disappointed" that legislators couldn't compromise on a property tax increase. He also said he may have to put a hiring freeze in place in county hall, and may have to cut funding for road projects.
