TOWN OF CHARLOTTE, NY - A serious accident in Chautauqua County has sent 3 people to the hospital after a vehicle struck a tractor trailer.

A vehicle traveling northbound on Rt. 60 in the Town of Charlotte started slowing down to turn into a driveway when it was struck from behind. The driver of the second vehicle failed to notice the vehicle was slowing down.

The impact caused the first vehicle to swerve into the southbound lanes, striking a tractor trailer.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The driver and passenger fo the first vehicle were taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to WCA and the driver of the tractor trailer was uninjured.

Charges are pending while an investigation continues.
