BUFFALO, N.Y.- The countdown is on to New Years and an army of more than 100 volunteers are pulling together to bring in 2012 in style in downtown Buffalo.
Preparations are in full swing at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center for the 23rd annual First NIght celebration. Thursday while tractor trailers hauled in carnival rides onto the main exhibit floor, workers and volunteers scurried about getting the rest of the massive structure ready.
The upper level will be a carnival atmosphere, complete with rides and bounce houses. The lower level will feature a variety of entertainment acts from a birds of prey show to an Elvis tribute concert. There will also be a Storybook Land, where kids can walk through and see their favorite books come to life.
First Night 2012 runs from 5pm until 10pm Saturday night at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
