Lincoln, NE (Sports Network) - Chris Evans shot 8-of-9 from the field en route
to a team-high 19 points as the Kent State Golden Flashes downed the Nebraska
Cornhuskers, 74-60, in the title game of the Joe Cipriano Classic at Devaney
Center.
Darren Goodson came off the bench to tally 16 points on 8-of-10 from the floor
for Kent State (4-2), while Randal Holt netted 15 and dished out four assists.
For Nebraska (4-1), Dylan Talley scored a career-high 27 points and Brandon
Ubel logged a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Nebraska took a 33-32 lead into halftime. Kent State shot 54.2 percent from
the field in the opening frame compared to 45.8 percent for the Cornhuskers,
but they were able to drain 9-of-14 from the free throw line..
The Flashes hot shooting continued after intermission, draining 15-of-25 field
goal attempts in the final 20 minutes to pull away.
The Cornhuskers were off the mark from three-point range all night, making
just 3-of-19 from long range.
