State Funding is Lifeline for Bankrupt Hospital

SILVER CREEK, NY - News of a cash lifeline of sorts to temporarily keep the bankrupt Lake Shore Health Care Center from closing its doors this month was announced at a rally Saturday.

Hundreds turned out at Silver Creek High School where New York State Senator Cathy Young announced $1 million in state emergency funding through the health department.

Senator Young says the emegency funding will give officials, the hospital board, potential investors and various interested parties the chance to negotiate some kind of deal to either buy the hospital in Irving or have someone operate it for the near future.

But, she says, they will continue to lobby Albany officials and the state health department to keep the hospital open.
