Arrest Made in South Buffalo Fatal Fire

BUFFALO, NY - Buffalo homicide detectives have arrested David Meyers, 19, of Buffalo, and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal house fire that happened in South Buffalo on Tuesday.

The bodies of a man and a dog were found in the rubble after the fire had been put out.

Detectives say that an autopsy determined that the 52-year-old man had died as a result of blunt force.

He has been identified as Brian Dombek, the resident of the Sirret Street home where the fire occurred. Buffalo Fire Department fire investigators said the fire was set on purpose.

"Detectives had developed a possible suspect, and this suspect did make admissions to the police regarding what took place Tuesday night," said Dennis J. Richards, chief of detectives, in a statement released Friday night.

The suspect and victim knew each other, police say.

Meyers is being held in the Buffalo Police Department lock-up, pending a City Court appearance Saturday morning.
