Six protesters arrested at Sheriff Howard event

ORCHARD PARK, NY — Six protesters were arrested at a fundraiser for Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard on Thursday night, according to police.

Protesters from a group called Showing Up for Racial Justice Action rallied outside Sheriff Howard's "5th Annual Smokin Steak Out," however others from the group protested inside. Police responded to 3964 California Road at 7:25 p.m. after receiving calls about the protesters being disruptive.

The following were arrested and charged with third-degree criminal trespass, sixth-degree conspiracy and disorderly conduct: Pasquale P. Raico, 26, of Amherst and five from Buffalo: Amanda L. Kisselstein, 26; Emma L. Fabian, 29; Matthew M. LaPennas, 32; Stefanie H. McGraw, 26; and Anika E. Ochoa-Kortiz, 25.

Kisselstein had an outstanding warrant and was transferred to the custody of City of Buffalo Police.

The five others were released with appearance tickets.

SURJ has protested Howard's events in the past, citing issues related to the Erie County Holding Center, and his appearance at the pro-Trump “Spirit of America” rally in April.
