BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Erie County Sheriff's deputies charged a man with vehicular manslaughter Tuesday after a lengthy investigation into a fatal crash in July.
Back on July 6 at about 2 p.m., deputies say Robert Sutherland was driving eastbound on Route 39 in the Town of Sardinia when he crossed over into the westbound shoulder. His vehicle then struck and killed Samuel Pagano, 22, of South Wales who was working as a surveyor. The vehicle then hit a tree and utility pole.
Sutherland's at the Erie County Holding Center until his arraignment in Sardinia Town Court Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
