'Shelter in place' issued in Lewiston Saturday morning

TOWN OF LEWISTON —A New York State Alert telling some Lewiston residents to "shelter in place" was sent out at 10:10 a.m. Saturday due to "an active police call in progress."

The alert was lifted at 11:20 a.m. for Lewiston residents in the area of Garlow Road, Stolz Road, Kline Road, Laurel Road, and Donna Drive.

The subject, who appeared to be suicidal, barricaded himself inside a residence on Garlow Road, according to New York State Police spokesman Jim O'Callaghan.

O'Callaghan said the situation ended peacefully and the subject was taken into custody.
