BUFFALO, N.Y.-- The 22nd annual Ride For Roswell raised more than $4.6 million for cancer research and patient-care programs at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
After Friday's Celebration of Hope, more than 8,000 riders participated in Saturday's ride that covered 400 miles through 14 communities and two countries (two routes ran through Canada). Organizers say that the Ride Weekend involved more than 10,000 people, some decided to ride, others volunteered and supported the cause.
“The Ride For Roswell is such an incredible event, and it wouldn’t be possible without the passion and commitment of thousands of riders and volunteers, said Dr. Candace Johnson, Roswell Park President and CEO. The funds they’ve raised are critical in allowing us to discover and provide the latest in innovative therapies as well as compassionate quality-of-life programs to ease their cancer journey.”
Since its berth in 1996, the Ride For Roswell has raised $42.6 million for Roswell Park and is now the largest single-day fundraiser, according to organizers.
