BUFFALO, NY-- Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz (D) made an announcement this morning that could have an impact on the future of the Buffalo Bills.
Poloncarz says he is calling on the county comptroller to begin issuing bonds on behalf of Erie County, rather than going through the control board.
How do bonds and borrowing affect the Bills?
Poloncarz says the move now is all about the needs of the future. "This will, in the long run, ensure that Erie County is capable of doing what it needs to do in the event that a new stadium needs to be built and the county contributes a portion associated with that. Because, as we know, a new stadium will be very expensive. It will not be something that comes immediately at a low cost. I've talked about whether we need to do a new stadium or retrofit, but I want to ensure if a new stadium is what's decided, the county is ready to fulfill its part."
2 On Your Side's Dave McKinley will have more tonight about the comments from the County Executive and the future of the Bills.
