BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A major change to traffic flow is coming to one of the area's international border crossings.
Starting Tuesday, Baird Drive, which cuts through Front Park, will close to traffic.
Baird Drive has been a frequently-used way for drivers to get to the Peace Bridge.
After Tuesday, drivers approaching from Porter Avenue will have to follow signs to go further down the road. These signs will take them to a roundabout and then to the Peace Bridge.
Drivers coming off of the bridge and into the U.S. will be directed to the roundabout as well. The roundabout will then lead them to Porter Avenue or the 190.
The traffic change is a result of the state Department of Transportation's Gateway Connections Improvement Project. The project aims to restore Front Park and steer traffic away from neighborhoods around the bridge.
