Homeowner holds two at gunpoint after attempted burglary

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- A homeowner and his son held two suspected burglars at gunpoint early Monday morning.

Police say the two suspects, both from Lancaster, were trying to break into the home in Orchard Park.

At 1:12 a.m. Monday, Orchard Park Police got a call from the homeowner on Transit Road saying the two men dressed in dark were trying to break into his house. Police say they then received a second call from the homeowner saying that he and his son were holding the two suspects at gunpoint.

Police say Jacob Rappleye, 18, and Anthony Guarino, 22, were using a ladder to enter the home, when the homeowner and his son heard the suspects and confronted them.

Rappleye and Guarino have been charged with attempted burglary, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana. Rappleye has been released on bail, and Guarino has been sent to Erie County Holding Center.
