ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. - A benefit will be held tonight for a family whose son is battling a cancerous and inoperable brain stem tumor.
In October, John Millen, 3, was diagnosed with a tumor known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG. He underwent several months of radiation. Even with aggressive treatment, children with this particular type of tumor typically live 12 to 18 months.
The benefit is at Michael's Banquet Facility on Southwestern Boulevard in Hamburg. It goes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Proceeds from the benefit will be used for medical bills and other expenses the family incurs. Donations are considered a personal gift to the family and are not tax deductible.
