NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. -- North Tonawanda Police have made a safety recommendation to users of the smartphone app Snapchat, and their parents.
The latest version of Snapchat includes a map feature in which users just need to "pinch the screen" to see where other users are directly located.
North Tonawanda Police said via a Facebook post, they recommend changing Snapchat's settings to keep your location private.
This can be done by turning on the app's "Ghost Mode" to avoid showing a location. To do this, pinch the screen when the app is open to load the map. The first time this is done, a prompt asking if you would like to turn on Ghost Mode should show up. If the prompt does not appear, you can click the icon in the top right hand corner of the screen to tick on the Ghost Mode box.
