Suspect arrested in Niagara Falls shooting

NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Niagara Falls police officers and detectives, assisted by Niagara County Probation officers, arrested a suspect in a shooting that happened just before midnight Wednesday.

Javon Ellison, 24, of 18th Street in Niagara Falls, was picked up in an apartment on Falls Street "without incident" Thursday evening, according to the Niagara Falls Police Department.

The shooting happened at 11th and Ontario streets in the Falls.

Jermaine Lowe, 23, of Niagara Falls, was shot in the abdomen. His girlfriend drove him to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and then he was immediately taken by Rural/Metro to Erie County Medical Center.

On Thursday night he was listed as being in stable condition.

Ellison was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree menacing. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Niagara Falls City Court Friday morning.
