New athletic center holds ribbon-cutting

Nardin Academy Opens New Athletic Center

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The young athletes at Nardin Academy, along with other city school athletes, have a new place to play that could also mark a first for the Queen City.

Friday, a ribbon cutting was held for the school's new 30-thousand square foot facility on Elmwood Avenue.

It includes an indoor soccer field and four squash courts.  Additional squash courts are on the way.

Nardin will share the facility with several other city schools and soccer clubs.

"The City itself has done many studies around the availability of facilities, most of which are in the suburbs, so this establishes the first indoor turf facility in Buffalo," said Nardin president Marsha Joy Sullivan.

An inaugural class will be inducted into Nardin's Hall of Fame Saturday.

Nardin Academy is a private Roman Catholic School, founded in 1857.  It is located on Cleveland Ave.
