Man walks away from tractor trailer fire

DRIVER ESCAPES TRUCK FIRE ALONG THE 190

BUFFALO, N.Y. --  Officials say nobody was hurt when the cab of a tractor trailer burst into flames Saturday afternoon on the 190 northbound at Ogden Street.

The truck driver told 2 On Your Side that the fire seemed to start while he was waiting at a pull-off area near the 90. He was preparing to go back over the border into Canada.

At the time he said he smelled something funny, and then the cab of his truck caught on fire. He said he has no idea how the fire started.

Thruway state police said nobody, including the driver, was hurt. There were also no traffic interruptions, since the truck was already pulled off the roadway.

Thruway State Police said they first responded to the call at about 12 p.m. After assisting with the fire, the scene was cleaned up just before 2 p.m.
