LOCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Niagara County Sheriff's Office says an Amherst man has been charged after an investigation into his company, Robert's Paving and Excavating.
Over the last three weeks, the Sheriff's Office received complaints about Robert's Paving and Excavating overcharging customers and doing inferior work. The company is owned by Robert B. Cooper, 27.
On Friday, the Criminal Investigation Bureau charged Cooper for violations of local ordinance for incidents in Lewiston June 17 and in Lockport July 5 and 7.
Cooper is specifically charged with three counts of Solicitation Without a Permit, the sheriff's office says.
Cooper was sent to the Niagara County Jail on $100 bail with court appearances scheduled for July 18 at 6 p.m. in the Town of Lockport and July 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lewiston Court.
Deputies say they are continuing to investigate Robert's Paving and Excavating, and the incidents highlight the importance of homeowners being aware of who they are hiring to do work on their property, including ensuring a hired contractor has the correct licensing.
