Lockport Police investigating fatal fire

Lockport victim's Name Officially Released

LOCKPORT, NY - Lockport Police are investigating a fatal fire at 605 East High Street.

Police say the fire started around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, and the body of a female was found inside the home.

While police have not released the name of the victim, Caleb Bell identified her to reporters as his ex-wife Holly Seiler, age 54.  He said he had to break the news of her death to their grown children who lived in a separate apartment at the rear of the multi family dwelling.

"It wasn't a meeting that any father would want to endure," Bell told WGRZ-TV.

"Your heart is pounding you don't even know what to say other than to try to say that it will be all right. She loved our children and did everything she could for them. Like I told my  daughter, she'll see her again…you just have to know it's in God's hands," Bell said.

According to police, the victim was the only person in her apartment at the time of the fire. Her cause of death, and the cause of the fire are both under investigation.

Police say they have interviewed one witness.  More information is expected this afternoon.

Bell says he has "every confidence" that fire investigators will get to the bottom of what occurred.
