LEWISTON, N.Y.-- Police in Lewiston say they have arrested 44-year-old Jon Ellington after a domestic incident Saturday in Lewiston.
The Lewiston Police Department says they were able to bring Ellington into custody around 8:30 Sunday night, after an hours-long search, along with help from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, New York State Police and U.S. Border Patrol.
The incident stemmed from a 911 domestic disturbance call from his home in the 900 block of Pletcher Road Saturday night. Multiple agencies searched the area and for a short time, asked residents to shelter in place because Ellington was considered "armed and dangerous." Before he was taken into custody, police said they were concerned Ellington may harm himself.
He is charged with Rape in the First Degree, Kidnapping in the Second Degree, Strangulation in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, according to police.
