Larceny suspect causes crash at Home Depot

BATAVIA, N.Y. -- The Genesee County Sheriff's Department says someone tried to steal tools from a Home Depot in Batavia Wednesday before causing a crash.

Deputies responded at about 9:52 a..m. to The Home Depot on Veterans Memorial Drive.

When they arrived, authorities discovered the thief had pushed a cart full of tools from the store past all cashiers and had tried to load them into a vehicle.

State troopers later found the vehicle in the Town of Henrietta on the Thruway.

Several of the stolen Home Depot tools have been recovered, however an investigation into the incident continues.
