JAMESTOWN, NY-- The Jamestown Police K-9 stabbed by a suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of his estranged wife is home and doing well.
K-9 Mitchell was injured after confronting Keith Robbins in a Todd Ave. home earlier this month. After an hours-long stand-off, officers took Robbins into custody. He is currently being treated for a self-inflicted stab wound. No word yet on his condition.
K-9 Mitchell was rushed into surgery and continues to recover from his injuries. Police say anyone wishing to make a donation towards his medical and after care costs can drop it off or mail it to the police station at 201 E. 2nd St. or make out a check to the Jamestown Police Department K9.
Police want to thank everyone in the community for their continued concern for the police dog.
Robbins is accused of shooting and killing his wife, Shari, in a church parking lot. Shari Robbins was a mother of two – an 11 year old daughter and a 13 year old son – and was a beautician and certified nursing assistant.
The Chautauqua County District Attorney said Robbins will likely be charged with second degree murder and assault on a police officer.
