Inmate charged with stabbing another inmate

ATTICA, N.Y. -- An inmate has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing another inmate at the Attica Correctional Facility, New York State Police say. 

The incident happened on April 22nd.  

Dominick f. Coffer, 21, is accused of using an edged weapon to attack another inmate, causing multiple injuries and sending the victim to the hospital with a wound on the right side. 

In addition to second-degree Attempted Murder, Coffer is charged with the felonies of 1st-degree Assault, third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and first-degree Promoting Prison Contraband. 

Coffer was arraigned in Wyoming County Court and then returned to custody. He is currently being held at the Southport Correctional Facility in Pine City.

He is scheduled to reappear in Wyoming County Court at a later date. 

Coffer is also serving a sentence for Criminal Possession of a Weapon out of Dutchess County, troopers say.
