NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - A state of the art ice rink in Niagara Falls has just completed a nine million dollar renovation, and it's looking the part.
Mayor Paul Dyster and members of the city council celebrated the completion of years of renovation work that began back in 2010 and has greatly improved the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion. Over the past six years the facility underwent improvements that included the addition of new locker rooms, a new ice refrigeration system, and a new bar and tapas lounge. The mayor says it was all worth it.
"I think everyone knows now that hockey is big business across the U.S. and Canada, but in WNY particularly important in Niagara Falls. We have a lot of hotel rooms that are vacant many days through the winter, we are always looking for ways to bring people to visit, not just hotels, but to eat in our restaurants," said Dyster.
