Hochul responds to RiverBend late payments

Hochul Comments On Riverbend Payments

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- As 2 On Your Side continues to investigate the RiverBend Factory site construction is moving along, it's been discovered the state is again late on payments to subcontractors at the site.

The late payments were first noticed as a problem back in February when contractors, vendors and suppliers were owed more than $80 million dollars by the state. Governor Andrew Cuomo said it wouldn't happen again.

Channel 2's Erica Brecher asked New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul Saturday why the payments are again late.

"We're asking for a little bit of time just to make sure we really get it right, (to) make sure the payments are proper," she said. "Obviously there have been investigations swirling around, and you have to understand that complicates the situation, but the bottom line is people will be paid. "
