First Niagara Bank Robbed by Female Suspect

HAMBURG, NY - Hamburg Police officers are searching for a woman who held up the First Niagara Bank at 4939 Lake Shore Road Friday afternoon. The hold-up occurred at about 4:09 p.m.

Witnesses say a white female in her 20s, about 5' 6" tall and weighing 160 lbs., made off with an undetermined amount of cash.

She was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a beige cap with a small visor. She had on a grey ski mask which concealed her face. She was carrying a tan or beige-colored bag. No weapon was displayed.

Police say she ran from the bank towards Route 5 in an easterly direction. Official activated the town's code red community activation system to alert area residents as police searched for the suspect.

A statement from Hamburg Police said the FBI and Erie County Sheriff's Office helicopter helped in the search.
