HAMBURG, NY - More than 1,500 people took the Polar Plunge at Woodlawn Beach on Saturday morning to benefit Special Olympics New York.
And just what, exactly, inspires someone to splash around Lake Erie in their skivvies in the depths of December?
"It's all about just coming out and having fun with the community, helping out with raising money for the Special Olympics, freezing our butts off," said Polar Plunger John Rados. "What's it like when you hit the water?" Death. It felt like I died. Needles. Like grandma just put in a pincushion. It felt like a pincushion."
