Equipment stolen from Shakespeare in the Park

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Thousands of dollars in sound equipment was stolen from Shakespeare in Delaware Park late Saturday night, according to Buffalo Police Spokesman, Michael DeGeorge.

Burglars broke in through a secured window and door and stole about $15,000 worth of equipment, according to Buffalo Police. Police originally said the door was left unlocked, but that is no longer the case.

Lisa Ludwig, managing director of Shakespeare in Delaware Park, says the burglar or burglars smashed the windows with cinder blocks to get in the building, and then walked out the front door with the equipment.

"It's so terrible that someone would do this," Ludwig said. "Now we have to scramble to borrow sound equipment. It's a free event that draws thousands of people every summer. It's so unfortunate."

Anyone with information on the crime should call Buffalo Police's confidential tip line at 716-847-2255.
